daisy_smallOne of the greatest resources we can offer you is the opportunity to meet with a Discipleship Coach. These are trained Grace Community members who can sit down and help you discern your “spiritual address” and what you might need next on your journey forward as a follower of Jesus Christ. Meeting with a Discipleship Coach is easy and hospitable.  Meetings are usually 30 minutes long and you can connect in person or on the phone. You can meet just once or for a season as you see fit and as you find it helpful. Your coach may direct you to one or more of the resources on this website. There is no cost to you for the coaching – it is part of what we feel is necessary to empower you to grow as a disciple.

A life of hospitality certainly includes being part of the church community and welcoming new people to worship, but it also includes our interpersonal relationships with and our acceptance of people who are outside the church and quite unlike us; even to the point of intentionally building relationships with persons beyond the church in order to embody Christ’s love.

Reaching Out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life

Nouwen views our journey from exploring to maturing in three movements. The first, from loneliness to solitude, focuses on the spiritual life as it relates to the experience of our own selves. The second, from hostility to hospitality, deals with our spiritual life as a life for others. The final movement, from illusion to prayer, offers penetrating thoughts on the most mysterious relationship of all: our relationship to God.

Attend a Short Term Bible Study or Group

One of the best ways to learn and practice hospitality is by intentionally becoming a part of a group for learning, fellowship and accountability. Listening to the stories of others, sharing your stories and being welcoming to folks who may be different from you is part of growing in hospitality.  A short term  group or class offers this in with “limited risk” as the group will only be meeting for a few weeks.  Grace offers opportunities for such groups several times a year.
